Mark Albrecht Studio

Metal Back Stool

Commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art in 2004, this stool was designed for the Bar Room at The Modern, the museum’s restaurant.

The low profile of the open back allows for the horizontal lines of the architecture to dominate without compromising comfort. The metal back is wide enough and curved just right to provide excellent lumbar support and an unnoticed yet crucial tapered radius on the edge of the back makes the back “soft”.
