Alison Berger Glassworks

Offering Collection

Inspired by the ancient practice of creating altars, the Offering collection expresses the universe’s polarities. As light is to shadow, as feminine is to masculine, as nature is to man-made, so these objects hold together the contemporary and the traditional, the sacred and the profane.

Where light symbolizes patience and a clearing of ignorance, Flowers express generosity, Water, purification, and the Crystals for their mythical healing powers.

Together they acknowledge the wonderment of the world and the bliss of beauty. Like an altar, its elements can be arranged into endlessly individualized compositions to become a personal ritual of prayer and gratitude.

The crystal in all of the Alison Berger Glassworks collection is hand blown. The process itself uses no molds or form constraints to shape the piece. Each fixture is a unique piece of functional art. The material qualities of this process will sometimes result in small air bubbles and actual tool marks, which are desirable evidence of the artisanal process.

Alison Berger Glassworks

Alison Berger is an artist whose medium is light, the material is glass, and memory as elusive as it is, is the theme. Whether designing light fixtures, objects, furnishings, or site specific commissions, the pieces are made by hand using age old glass working techniques, along with highly crafted metal details, to create forms that transcend time and capture light. Resulting in works that feel old world and simultaneously modern.
